Abstract
Python and SQL are both powerful languages for data engineers working in today’s modern tech stack. But switching between them multiple times a day isn’t always easy—it’s not just a change in syntax, but a shift in mindset. This becomes even more challenging in hybrid roles where data engineers are expected to handle orchestration, analytics, and Python scripting all at once.
In this talk, I’ll explore the mental and technical challenges that comes with switching between these different worlds, and how it can impact productivity and code quality. We’ll look at practical ways to reduce this friction through better tooling, modular design, and improved team practices—so we can build smarter workflows and make context switching less painful.
