PyCon Africa Online Experience

Can't make it to South Africa in person? We've got you covered. You can experience PyCon Africa remotely - either on your own or by hosting a watch party with your local community.

How the online experience works

We're not just streaming talks at you. The online experience is designed to be interactive and community-focused, so you can participate in discussions, ask questions, and connect with other attendees.

Conference dates: October 9-10, 2025

What you get: Live streams, recordings, and access to our Discord community

First, you'll need to buy a remote ticket to access everything.

Step 2: Join our Discord server

This is where the community hangs out during the conference - it's where you'll chat about talks, ask questions, and connect with other people.

Step 3: Register when we're closer to the event

A few weeks before the conference, you'll be able to tell our Discord Registration bot your ticket code. The bot will then give you access to all the event channels. We'll send you instructions on how this works when the time comes.

What you get with an online ticket

All the talks

Watch every session live, or catch up later with the recordings. You'll have access to everything.

Real interaction

This isn't just passive watching. You can ask questions during talks, join conversations with other attendees, and even set up your own discussion groups.

Discord community

Join our Discord server where you can:

  • Chat in dedicated channels for each talk
  • Ask speakers questions after their presentations
  • Organize your own discussion groups about topics you're interested in
  • Check out what our sponsors are up to (some are hiring)
  • Play games and explore different community spaces

Watch parties

One of the best parts about the online experience is that you can watch with others. Consider organizing a watch party with your local Python group, colleagues, or friends. It's a great way to make the experience more social and have real-time discussions about what you're learning.

Some ideas:

  • Get your local meetup group together
  • Watch with your work team
  • Set up something at your university
  • Just invite a few friends over

If you're watching alone, don't worry - you'll still be part of the active Discord community with hundreds of other online attendees.

What you need

Just a decent internet connection and something to watch on - computer, tablet, or phone all work. You'll also want to join Discord for the community parts. We'll send you setup instructions before the event.

After the conference

Your ticket includes ongoing access to the recorded talks and our Discord community, so the connections and learning don't stop when the live streams end.
