Abstract
In general, Python communities are vibrant spaces for technical exchange, collaboration, and innovation. However, the emotional aspects that sustain engagement often remain in the background. This talk will explore how emotions such as excitement, frustration, pride, and belonging shape participation, motivation, and member retention. Drawing from my experience as a community organizer, mentor, and researcher in AI and education, I will share insights from academic literature and real-world interactions within African Python communities.
We will discuss:
• What "emotional dynamics" means in the context of technical communities.
• How emotions influence learning, collaboration, and volunteer retention.
