Abstract
I've been a professional software developer (i.e. employers have paid me to write code, possibly against their better judgement) for 20 years. Like everyone else with a similar career path, I've picked up some advice for developers along the way, sometimes somewhat painfully learned. This talk will cover some of those pieces of advice, including:
- career growth
- "soft" skills
- working with fellow developers and employers
- honing development skills.
Examples and illustrative anecdotes will be Python-based.
This talk is hopefully of benefit to newish or junior developers but there's probably many items in here that will resonate with experienced developers as well.
