Abstract
While wrangling with data structures in python, solving strange FastAPI bugs, and dealing with complex design patterns couldn’t sound further from scaling rock faces with nothing but a 9mm nylon rope keeping you safe; there’s a surprising overlap between engineering and activities which require a lot of self-discipline, skill mastery, and most importantly: judgement.
Come ride along with me as I share the lessons I’ve brought into my engineering career from my gradual master of rock climbing and how we can broaden our careers by pursuing activities that seem entirely orthogonal!
