Abstract
Python has become one of the most accessible programming languages for beginners, but its impact extends far beyond writing code. In many classrooms, it serves as a gateway to problem-solving, creativity, open source, and global communities.
As a Computer Science teacher in Namibia, I have witnessed how Python can inspire students to think differently about technology and their own potential. Despite challenges such as limited resources, students have used Python to build projects, participate in programming competitions, and develop the confidence to pursue opportunities they once believed were beyond their reach.
This talk is aimed at educators, mentors, Python community members, and anyone interested in broadening access to programming education. I will share practical classroom experiences, teaching approaches that encourage curiosity and real-world problem-solving, and lessons learned from introducing Python in a resource-constrained environment. I will also discuss how educators and the Python community can work together to create more inclusive pathways into software development.
