Abstract
Python doesn't have the best track record when it comes to high quality, high performance dev tooling. Fortunately, that's changed over the past few years thanks to a small team of Rust programmers. ruff, uv, and more recently ty have quickly become indispensable to the discerning Pythonista.
If you, like me, are suspicious of new tools, perhaps this talk can convince you to give them a try. I'll cover how and why they're useful, how to get set up, and how to migrate from other tools.
If you, like me, have already made the transition, perhaps you can learn how to get more value out of them.
If you don't know anything about them at all, here's what they do:
* uv: project and dependency management, replacing pip, pipx, poetry, etc.
* ruff: linting and formatting, replacing flake8, black, isort, etc.
* ty: type checking and language server, replacing mypy, pylsp, etc.
