Bio
Ashton is a Principal Engineer working at HPE South Africa with over 10 years of Python development experience, with particular interest and experience in the IOT and time series storage space, submitting a US patent (US-12105691-B1) along the way and building the servaltracker. Ashton is also an accomplished rock climber in his free time, having climbed several iconic routes and problems in the Cape Peninsula.

While wrangling with data structures in python, solving strange FastAPI bugs, and dealing with complex design patterns couldn’t sound further from scaling rock faces with nothing but a 9mm nylon rope keeping you safe; there’s a surprising overlap between engineering and activities which require a lot of self-discipline, skill mastery, and most importantly: judgement.
