"Hello, World!" as a kid in the 80s, working on the internet in the 90s, pro dev in 00's, fell down the Lean-Agile rabbit hole in 2007 and still enjoying the fall. Has helped teams/orgs from 1 to 100 people in both start-up and corporates. Working on the software production value stream and Engineering Kindness.
Accepted Talks:
Building the Mars yard - in the open.
This year, a group of IS honours students built out the cloud platform for the SAPIENT.rocks mars yard, in a project made possible by Impact.com
Now learners can:
- go to marsyard.sapient.rocks (will be live by pycon, currently it is at marsyard.labs.ws)
- code a virtual rover in blocks or python
- send that code to mission control
- get a video back of their code running in the mars yars at the Science Centre
This talk will chronicle that journey, including feedback from the UCT student group, and learners who actually ran missions. Additional speakers will add in their sections if possible.

The Enterprise: The pragmatic reality of using tools like Claude to refactor Capitec's legacy core without losing system understandability.
The Community: afrolabs open spaces, coderlevelup code clubs, meet za makers etc and python & pyconza
The CTA: A direct challenge to the audience to use the PyConZA hallway track and get into the community to build shared mental models and make software work, for us.
